WHAT’S BROKE & NEEDS FIXING. Staying with pro basketball and this one’s a no brainer. The scheduling of the National Basketball Association Finals.

It was bad enough that the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder had to wait 5 days after punching their ticket to start the NBA Finals. That can be easily explained by the fact that OKC locked up the West in 5 games and Indiana emerged in 6 games. I get that because you have to plan for a 7 game series just in case it happens.

But the timing of the finals is asinine and here's why. Game 1 June 5. Then 3 days until Game 2 on June 8. Then another 3 days for Game 3 on June 11. Finally only the normal 2 days for Game 4 on June 13 then it’s back to the 3 days for Game 5 and 6 and 7 culminating on June 22.

So do the math. If this series goes 7 games it’s going to take 18 days to crown a champion. That would be a span of 3 NFL and NCAA footballs games. 9 or 10 NHL contests. 5 of MLB 3 game series factoring in a travel day every week.

Let’s hope this finals scheduling is a one off . Commissioner Adam Silver needs to drops the hammer on that ever happening again. Why? Because it’s insane.

Book it Dano!
