THOUGHTS FROM A SEPTUAGENARIAN. In my three score and just short of twelve years on the 3rd rock from the sun some things have changed for the better. One of those is that in 2025 a player is judged on his or her athletic ability and not by the color of their skin.

The fact that people are pushing the narrative that Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders fell in the draft because he’s black is ludicrous. If this was the 1950s and possibly into the 1960s that scenario could sadly have occurred. But not in the 2020s.

NFL franchises as well as other professional organizations across the board have stopped making ethnicity a priority. Now it’s a simple three-word mantra which is “can he play” or "can she play" and that's the major and often the only consideration.

We will now see if the Cleveland found “a diamond in the rough” or if the other 31 NFL teams that passed on Sanders were correct in their evaluation. The best thing is he will have a chance to prove Cleveland was right or prove the other 31 clubs were correct on the gridiron where it needs to be determined. As it should be.

Book it Dano!
