RECORDS THAT WON'T BE BROKEN. I did promise you, my loyal readers and viewers, that I wouldn't list all 72 NBA records, 68 of them set alone, by Wilt Chamberlain. So I'll stop with the fifth one today and that should completely convince you that The Big Dipper is far and away the GOAT when in comes to the National Basketball Association.
A quick review of the first four before I post #5. #1-Most minutes played in a season at 48.5. #2-Most rebounds in a game at 55 along with a season with 2,149. That comes to 27.2 a game and a career retrieving of 23,924 that equates to 22.9 a year. #3. Most points scored by a rookie in a game with 58 twice and a season with 2,707 plus highest points per game average at 37.6. #4. Most shots attempted in a game without a miss. This will sound unbelievable but, over a stretch of four games in February, #13 made 35 consecutive shots including an 18 for 18 performance on February 24 against the Baltimore Bullets.
Here's #5 and this will most likely astound you as much as it did me. #13 is the league leader in double-doubles with 968. For those who do not know what that happens to be let me elaborate. That when a player has recorded 10 or more in two different statistical categories.
The fact that the Philadelphia phenom posted 968 double-doubles is incredible but I'm going to take that to another level. Wilt the Stilt posted 227 of those consecutively from 1964 to 1967 and, to show that this wasn't a fluke, holds the next to longest streaks at 220 and 133.
Ladies and gentlemen, I rest my case and I lay before you those five salient facts. That should be sufficient to convince any doubter that Wilt Chamberlain should be crowned by the NBA as the Greatest Of All Time.
