RECORDS THAT WILL NEVER BE BROKEN. Continuing on the Wilt Chamberlain GOAT Tour. Last week's record was minutes played in a season. If you think that one made you go WOW just wait until you see the one for today.
Quick review of Record #1. The Big Dipper averaged 48.5 minutes per game and that was every second of every contest except when he was ejected late in a tilt that year adding up to 3,882 minutes for the 1961-62 campaign.
Record #2 for rebounds in a season also belongs to Wilt The Stilt. It occurred in 1961-62 as well when #13 accumulated 2,149 caroms and that computes to 27.8 rebounds a game.
And, just so you will not think this is an outlier, the Philadelphia native not only holds the record but the next seven highest season outputs. A different name doesn't appear until #8 all time when Boston Celtic great Bill Russell clocks in with 1,930 rebounds and that still 219 boards from the top spot.
So you need to buckle up because when it comes to records this is just the tip of the iceberg for Chamberlain. Trust me when I tell you there's more coming that are simply phenomenal achievements.
