NOW WARMING UP...MLB
Now Warming Up…MLB!
Let's start with the Opener.
***With the Yankees, Dodgers, Guardians, and Phillies getting ready to play again after some time off, you have to wonder how much this time off will affect their play. Successful teams rely on rhythm and reps to sustain consistency. These teams are required to rev up the engine while teams like the Tigers, Padres, Royals, and Mets have built momentum with their first-round wins. Catching a rusty, flat-footed team for a game or two helps the underdogs, no? What do you think?
Now to the Set Up Man.
*** As far as building momentum, the NY Mets beat the Brewers the other night while down 2-0 in the 9th inning and against a great reliever in Devin Williams who gave up four runs in less than an inning of work capped by a Pete Alonso homer to the opposite field. Alonso was the first to hit a homer off Williams’ otherwise untouchable change-up. It was the biggest moment for Mets fans in many years. Look out for this team, as they are as hot as any team still playing.
Now the Closer.
***Bobby Witt Jr drove in the only run for Kansas City in Game 1 against the Orioles and the go-ahead run in the Royals Game 2 sweep. A legitimate superstar carrying a overachieving team. While for the Orioles shortstop, Gunnar Henderson, went hitless with four strikeouts in the two game series.
