RECORDS THAT WON’T BE BROKEN. So, what unbreakable record today? Going to deal with the PGA record that will never be broken. That mark is major championships won in a career.

First, let’s denote what constitutes the four major championships.  They are The Masters and The U.S. Open plus The Open culminating with the PGA. Only The Masters is played every year at the same venue being the  Augusta National Golf Club in the Georgia city of Augusta. The other three events rotate annually.

So the record of 18 major championship is held by Jack Nicklaus. The Golden Bear over a 24 year career has won 18 major events. That includes 6 Masters & 4 U.S. Opens & 3 Open & 5 PGA titles.

The second spot belongs to Tiger Woods with 15 but due to age is no longer a threat to win another of the most prestigious events on the mens golf circuit. That leaves the closest active golfer under the age of 50 being Rory McIlroy who just completed the career Grand Slam for his 5th triumph after 14 years on tour.

With only four chances a year to climb closer to Nicklaus it’s a Sysyphean hill to climb. You’re not only chasing the 85 year old legend of the golfing world but you’re also every year fighting Father Time and we all know he’s undefeated.

Book it Dano!
