RECORDS THAT WON’T BE BROKEN. You can bet the mortgage that no pitcher will come close to shattering this MLB record. Most innings pitched in a season will never be broken and here's why.

The overall record is held by Will White. In 1879 the 24 year old right hander while pitching for the National League Cincinnati Stars logged an incredible 608 innings on the bump.

If we’re just talking about the modern era which begins in the 1950s you have to wait until #384 on the list of innings pitched in a season before one appears. That occurred in 1953 when righty Robin Roberts posted 346.2 on the mound which is a third of an inning longer than the 346.1 put up in 1973 by southpaw Steve Carlton. Ironically both Hall of Fame hurlers accomplished those feats while pitching for the Philadelphia Phillies.

For comparison in 2024 Logan Gilbert of the Seattle Mariners led the Big Leagues with 220 innings pitched. If you do the math that’s 126 frames short of the two Phils pitchers. As you can plainly see by that statistic this record is unbreakable.

Book it Dano!
