WHAT’S BROKE & NEEDS FIXING. Must go back to Major League Baseball and it’s with the scheduling of the All-Star Game. Not a major overhaul but a fine tuning one for sure.

Right now, MLB has a problem and it’s starting to fester. That is the fact that pitchers are declining the invitation to play in the Midsummer Classic because they do not want to miss a start or possibly two for their team.

So how does this get fixed Buddy? Here’s a very simple change that should keep all parties happy and it involves scheduling.

All that needs to happen is to move the All-Star Game back from Tuesday to Thursday. That would allow all pitchers to complete their normal start in the rotation even if it’s on a Sunday. They would now have three days rest to pitch, usually just one inning. Then the regular season would resume on Monday to allow those hurlers who took the bump another three days of rest.

Now pitchers would have sufficient down time so they would not feel they are affecting their performance for their team by not taking the ball. Also, as a bonus, all players except for those involved in the All-Star festivities would get a much-needed full week off. A great example of why that is just as important is to look at Tampa Bay schedule. Leading up to the All-Star break the Rays had 29 games in 31 days. That's insane.

MLB are you listening? Make these two changes and you’ll not only have the best players wanting to compete in the All-Star Game, but you will have a more competitive last part of the regular season during the dog days of August and September leading up to the playoffs.

BOOK IT DANO!
