BREAKING NEWS. It’s a move that surprised every National Basketball Association media member that follows the NBA in any capacity. The New York Knicks summarily fired head coach Tom Thibodeau after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years.

The reasoning the Knickerbockers used for dismissing Thibs after 5 season was that “our organization is singularly focused on winning a championship for our fans.” Really?

Your coach just got your team one series away from the NBA Finals which last happened in The Big Apple in 2000. Your coach guided your team to back to back 50 win seasons for the first time since 1995 in Madison Square Garden. Your coach directed your team that eliminated the defending NBA champion for the first time in God knows how long. And you fire your coach because he didn’t win a championship in 2025. Come on.

Here would be my only question of the Knicks management. What’s the REAL reason Coach Thibodeau was unceremoniously jettisoned. Has Mike Malone or Jay Wright agreed to take the job even before the firing? Makes you go hummmmmm.

Just need a straight answer. Not winning the championship when the Knicks are trending in the right direction being the only reason for making this decision is ludicrous.

I’m not buying it. Why? Because I may have been born at night but it wasn’t last night.
