DID THIS REALLY HAPPEN. Last night in Game Two of the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals Cleveland was leading Indiana 119-112 with 57 ticks left in regulation at Rocket Arena. The Cavaliers were primed to even the series at 1 all before heading to Indianapolis and then this happened.
Pacers SF Aaron Nesmith tips in a missed free throw to make the score 119-114 with 47 seconds left. Two seconds later Cavs SG Donovan Mitchell is whistled for an offense foul.
Then the visitors procure another offensive rebound allowing PF Pascal Saikam to convert a layup making the count 119-116 at the 27 second mark. Inexplicably the home team turns it over and makes matters worse by committing a shooting foul with 12 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Indiana SG Tyrese Haliburton makes the first shot to cut the lead to a deuce and immediately after its deja vu again. #0 intentionally misses the second charity toss garnering his own rebound only to back up behind the arc and cold bloodedly drain a step back three pointer at the one second mark to steal a win by a count of 120-119.
Pacers with this improbable triumph go up 2-0 with the next couple of games in Indy at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Going to be extremely difficult for the top seeded Cavs to recover and win four games with three on the road.
You had to see this to believe it. Why because you can’t make this up.
